The Revolutionary War began in 1776, when the French and Spanish joined the war, and the war ended in October, 1781 when a British General surrendred knowing that the war was over.
The picture provided illustrates an American Civil War battle and not a Revolutionary War one. The soldiers holding the American flag in the picture are not in Continental Army uniforms but are wearing kepis and slouch hats.There are no Redcoats either but I do see a Confederate Jack being waved.
I thought that Lexington and Concord are the accepted beginning dates of the American Revolutionary War, i.e., April, 1775.
